Labor Day Closings

   Labor Day celebrations and closures fall on Monday, Sept. 5 this year.    Bay City, Van Vleck, and Tidehaven ISDs will all be closed in observance of the holiday.    All BCISD, VVISD, and TISD campuses will resume regularly scheduled classes on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Lions Eye Bank of Texas Bowl-A-Thon Sept. 24

   The Lions Eye Bank of Texas District 2-S4 Bowl-A-Thon will kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Schulman’s movie Bowl Grille, 6655 7th Street.     Proceeds from the Bowl-A-Thon benefit the Lions Eye Bank of Texas.

   Commissioners Court held a public hearing on the county’s proposed fiscal 2022-2023 budget of $29,609,325 at its regular meeting Monday, Aug. 22.    There were no comments at the budget public hearing.

   Van Vleck ISD trustees accepted Superintendent John O’Brien’s letter of retirement at their regular board meeting Monday, Aug. 15.    O’Brien has 23 years of service to VVISD and the Van Vleck community with 35 years overall in public education.
