Truck overturns after brakes fail at intersection

   A flatbed truck carrying pallets with bags of deer corn overturned at the intersection of Seventh Street and Avenue C at 12:38 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, Bay City polioce said.    When officers arrived they found a Sutherland’s truck on its side.     The truck had been bags of deer corn.

   On Wednesday, Sept. 28, Theresa O’Neal and her children thought they were meeting with “Operation Finally Home” at the Bay City H-E-B store as part of the interview process to receive a mortgage-free home.

"Council boosts police pay" by: Mike Reddell

   City Council gave hourly salary boosts to Bay City Police officers – to keep Bay City competitive with other area cities – at council’s meeting Tuesday, Sept. 27.    The raises will give front line officers a boost of $1.75 per hour and a $1 increase to corporals, sergeants and detectives.

Proceeds will go for replacing beds at MRMC

   Proceeds from this concert are going towards the cost of replacing six new beds for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Matagorda Regional Medical Center (MRMC), said MRMC Foundation Executive Director Tiffany Foltyn.    The beds were purchased back in May, she added.

   Commissioners Court approved a proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and appointed Bay City and Palacios police officers to the county’s Sexual Assault Response Team at the court’s meeting Monday, Sept. 3.
