BCPD nabs 2 linked with Ave. F, 7th Street robberies

   Two people - A 22-year-old Bay City woman and a juvenile - were taken into custody in connection with the robbery of stores on Avenue F and on 7th Street a little over four hours apart Sept. 26, police said.    Officers were first dispatched to 4605 Ave F in reference to a robbery at 11:36 p.m.

BCCDC OKs facade grants, notes new stores on square

   Two new businesses on the courthouse square got attention at the Bay City Community Development Corporation board meeting Monday, Sept. 26.    Board Member Becca Sitz said Health Inc., which will offer scrubs and medical equipment, will be a new store on the square.

"County buys $1.5M Wells Fargo Bank building" by: Mike Reddell

   Commissioners Court approved an agreement of sale to formally purchase the Wells Fargo Bank Building at 1801 7th Street for $1.5 million at the court’s regular meeting Monday, Sept. 26.      There was no discussion among the court members before voting on the sale agreement Monday..

Lister resigns as police chief

   Police Chief Robert Lister resigned on Friday, Sept. 23, City Manager Shawna Burkhart said Monday, Sept. 26.         Lister was suspended Aug. 31, and was under a 30-day period for resolving the suspension.      Burkhart didn’t comment on the reason for the suspension.

   Twenty-two local high school seniors took to Keye Ingram auditorium stage last Saturday to learn who would be crowned as the 2022-2023 Bay City Lions Club Rice Festival Queen.      Tidehaven High School senior Allyson Lucio was crowned Rice Festival Queen on Sept. 24.
