   The Blessing Hotel Annual Fundraiser will feature a diverse range of contests including the new pickle contest and its well-known car show with 27 classes Saturday, July 16.    The events get underway at 10 a.m. Saturday with registration for the car show. Awards presentation will be at 3 p.m.

   Bay City police are seeking information on a mother and her one-year-old child who are missing in a child custody case, reports show.    The police investigation began about 3 p.m. May 24 when Sgt. Minerva Pena was sent to the police department to speak with a complainant.

   Officers John Alvarez and Charles Coombs were sworn in as new Bay City Police Officers by Chief Robert Lister at a ceremony at City Hall Council Chambers July 6.       Alvarez graduated from Nixon-Smiley High School in 2018.

   Parachute opened a new plasma donation center on Wednesday, July 6 in Bay City, bringing its modern and consumer-driven donation experience to residents of Matagorda and neighboring counties.    The donation center offers donors an opportunity to earn extra money by donating life-saving plasma.
