   The Matagorda County Courthouse has four new benches installed on each corner at the top of the steps.    Each bench features a metal frame and recycled plastic slats as part of a joint project with the Bay City Main Street Program.

   Next Level Professional Development Organizations hosts the Memorial Day Festival from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at the courthouse square in Bay City.    Next Level PDO’s Kim Willett said that Avenue G and Sixth Street will be blocked off downtown for the event.

   City Council voted to deny an AEP rate increase proposal last week and to join Cities Served by AEP (Cities) to determine further moves to pursue.    AEP wants a $1.28 increase to the average residential customer’s bill in seeking $27.56 million increase in distribution revenues.
