   City of Vidor Mayor Misty Songe helped deliver a truckload of goods to the Blackcat football team Monday morning. The Bay City Blackcats were set to take on Vidor in football last Friday, but Hurricane Nicholas’s effects caused the game to be canceled.

   New confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Matagorda County.    The county had 490 new cases over the past 14 days, the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) reported Monday, Sept. 13.    The per capita rate of infections is 13.4 per 1,000 residents and the rate of fatalities is 3.

   Bay City September sales tax allocations were down 14.9% from the same month last year, while Palacios saw its rebates rise 16% over last year.    Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $925.

   Hurricane Nicholas made landfall just after midnight Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Matagorda Peninsula – about 10 miles West of Sargent.    Nicholas was at a Category 1 hurricane strength after bumping off the coast and returning before landfall at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
