   Bay City Community Development Corporation (BCCDC) board members unanimously approved the “Aquatic Center RFP” and two grant applications during their meeting on Monday afternoon.  The only board member absent was Clint Hewitt.

   Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently released the 2024-2025 school year accountability ratings.  The A-F letter grades have been actively discussed by Tidehaven, Bay City, and Van Vleck ISDs since school ended in May.

  Tenaris’s Bay City mill welcomed nine different US E&P operators for the company’s first Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) Experience Sept. 16 and 17, a two-day workshop designed to share knowledge and expertise about steel pipes used in the energy sector.

   Precinct 2 Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum and County Judge Bobby Seiferman welcomed the bid award for the construction of the Sargent Community Center at Commissioners Court’s meeting Monday, Sept. 22.

"Port authority OKs tax rate, 2026 budget" by: Mike Reddell

   The Port of Bay City Authority board approved the fiscal 2026 tax rate and budget at its regular meeting Thursday, Sept. 18.  The tax rate approved of $.04650 per $100 valuation, is computed on the Port of Bay City Authority certified value of $8,697,575,362 at 98% collection.

   After a brief public hearing, Bay City Planning Commission board members unanimously approved demolition of five substandard buildings at their meeting last week.

   Bay City ISD trustees unanimously approved launching a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for realtor services during their meeting last week.  All board members were present for the Sept. 16 meeting.

"1st Navy of Texas commissions five new admirals at ceremony" by: Mike Reddell

   Five new admirals were commissioned by The First Navy of Texas Historical Society at a well-attended Texian Navy Day ceremony at Matagorda Harbor Pavilion Saturday, Feb. 20.  The new admirals are George Harrison, Gail Cook, Gloria Crockett, David Garza and Corrie Bowen.
