July 4th closings and events

   Federal, city and county offices will be closed on Friday, July 4, in celebration of Independence Day.  Included in federal closings are the United States Postal Service and banks.  Banks and the postal service return to regular business hours on Saturday, July 5.

Fireworks illegal in city limits

   The Bay City Fire Marshal’s Office wants to remind all residents that fireworks are illegal in the city limits.   The Bay City Police Department and the Bay City Fire Marshal will be out during the holiday to enforce the Bay City ordinances regarding fireworks.

   The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released spring 2025 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) End-of-Course Assessment (EOC) results on June 10.  Those results include scores in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History.
