"Council calls for a public hearing on PID" by: Jessica Shepard

   City council unanimously approved a resolution to call the public hearing to create Public Improvement District (PID) #2 for Jim Maddox’s Meadow Lake subdivision last week.   All council members were present for the special called meeting Tuesday, March 4.

"CAST’s ‘Drinking Habits’ full of laughs" by: Jessica Shepard

   General admission tickets for the Community Actors of South Texas (CAST) comedy production of Tom Smith’s “Drinking Habits” are going quickly.   The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, March 13-15, at the CAST theater, 920 Nichols.   All shows will have a 15-minute intermission.

  If you asked Harold Bowers, what is his creed?   One would venture to say that it is Faith, Family, & Farming...in that order.   Along with his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Bowers, they have farmed grain, farmed seafood, and have raised up to 800 head of cattle on 3,000 acres of land.

Chemical leak involves Roehm

   A chemical leak occurred Friday, March 7, at a Roehm USA facility in Matagorda County due to a PSV valve failure on a brine chiller. The incident led to the release of ammonia into the atmosphere.

   Bay City police officers Ashley Rubio and Dillan Wakefield were sent to 4804 Avenue F, in reference to a vehicle that was running at the gas pumps with two males inside of it asleep at about 8 a.m. Sunday, March 9.
