"Tourism OKs ‘Birdfest’ sponsorship application" by: Jessica Shepard

   Bay City’s Tourism Advisory Council unanimously approved up to $3,000 for the annual “Matagorda Bay Birdfest” event sponsorship application at their recent meeting.  The application was approved in advance of the “9th Annual Matagorda Bay Birdfest” slated for Friday-Sunday, March 7-9, in 2025.

   Matagorda Magic Baseball is hosting baseball tryouts and a showcase event for countywide junior high players next Saturday.  The Jan. 11 all-day event starts with registration from 8:30-9 a.m. with the overall event finishing at 4 p.m.

New Year’s Closings

  This year New Year’s Eve falls on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and New Year’s Day is Wednesday, Jan. 1.  That means that many local businesses are closed in observance of the holiday starting Tuesday, Dec. 31, and will re-open at regular business hours Thursday Jan. 2.U.S.
