Texas WIC celebrates 50 years

    The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, popularly known as WIC, is commemorating 50 years of dedicated service to Texans.

"CAST debuts ’25 season" by: Jessica Shepard

   Community Actors of South Texas (CAST) announced their 2025 season productions at the group’s “Premiere Night” event last week.  Along with the planned showcases, event attendees were encouraged to purchase patronage packages or to donate to several specific projects directly.

   Almost a dozen Czech Republic visitors spoke with local leaders and toured STP facilities last week.  The group was composed of people who are researching possible future nuclear projects and to hear from locals about the impacts of STP on living in the county.

   The City of Bay City’s Variance Committee unanimously voted against a variance request for proposed business signage for the Neon Moon bar last week.

Man faces 7 warrants, 3 added charges

   Bay City police served a man with seven warrants and charged him on three additional complaints in what officers said was an ongoing criminal investigation.  Calvin Williams, 44, was charged with possession of controlled substance, fail to identify-fugitive from justice, and theft, reports show.

Faulty HVAC causes fire, displaces three

   A faulty HVAC unit was blamed for an apartment fire that displaced three people on Monday, Dec. 2, Fire Marshal Dan Shook said.  Bay City Police Department, Bay City Volunteer Fire Department, and the Bay City Fire Marshal were dispatched to the apartment fire at 5001 Ave F #602, at about 6:29 a.
