"Commissioners publicly dispel burn ban rumors " by: Jessica Shepard

   Precinct 4 Commissioner Bubba Frick reminded audience members that the county-wide burn ban was on during Commissioners Court Monday morning.  All commissioners were present for the meeting.  “I just wanted to remind everyone that the burn ban is still on,” he said.

   With Bay City and Tidehaven advancing in state football playoffs, you may be wondering where the holiday spirit in Matagorda County is this weekend.  Several events are featured this week ranging from pure seasonal entertainment to family fun and even something for adults to enjoy.

Lighted parade reset to Dec.12

   The City of Bay City Parks and Recreation, Police, and Public Works Departments have officially set 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 as the new date and time for the annual “Lighted Christmas Parade.”  The parade route, entry numbers, and staging area will remain unchanged.

Hometown Christmas celebrations

   The Parks and Recreation Elves are busy planning the annual “HomeTown Christmas Celebration” opening this weekend.  This year’s celebration includes the Christmas in the Park Celebration, the ever-popular Wilderness Trail of Lights, and Christmas Movies in the Park.

Polar plunge slated Jan. 4

   Kick off the New Year with the “8th Annual Polar Plunge” at Hilliard Pool, 3020 LeTulle Ave.    “Will it be cold.... or warm? Come and join us for a dip!” said Interim Parks & Recreation Director Kelly Penewitt in a press release.
