   Application deadlines are swiftly approaching for the “80th Annual Rice Festival” special events.  Recipe entries for the “55th Annual Rice Dish Round-Up Contest” are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.  Entry forms, including typed recipes, must be submitted to crpage@ag.tamu.edu.

The event allowed kids to climb aboard giant trucks, explore heavy equipment, meet hometown heroes, and experience the thrill of sitting behind the wheel of real working vehicles - from towering CAT equipment to flashing emergency vehicles.

   Main Street board members unanimously approved a $10,000 façade grant application for The Grand Creation Venue at their meeting last week.  Board member Fran Baker was the only one absent on Sept. 9.  The Grand Creation Venue is owned by Lanora Luna and will be at 1708 6th St.
