    (For over twenty years, I’ve followed a tradition started by the request of Zelma Winder Dearmond - my mother-in-law. Amusingly, she called me “Donna’s friend” for a couple of years after Donna and I were married. I think I only became her son-in-law after our first child, Christina, was born.

   First off, I want to wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas.     Oh, and bundle up this week.     The overnight low Thursday is expected to drop and by around 6 a.m. Friday the temperature will be around 17.    Saturday, Christmas Eve, will have sub-freezing lows in the 20s and 30s.

   Last week was no fun at all.  It almost reminds of the line from the Jack Nicholson movie where he is testifying in a court martial and tells the prosecuting attorney that he couldn’t stand the truth.  The Fed has consistently said that will raise rates to or above 5%.

   The Jolly Elf is in sight but we have some things to get past before the end of year celebration begins.     The Fed will meet this week to decide on what to do with interest rates.     Many believe that this time the Fed will raise the fed funds rate by 50 basis points.
