   The Port of Bay City Authority unanimously approved a ground lease agreement with PCC Chemicals for property at the Port of Bay City at the authority’s meeting Thursday, Sept. 14.    “We have been working on this for two years,” said Port Authority Chairman George Harrison.

Inmate commits suicide by hanging

   An inmate at the Matagorda County Jail committed suicide by hanging himself Aug. 26, the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office reported in a press release Sept. 12.

Disturbance leads to arrest for pot

   A disturbance at an Avenue J residence led to officers charging the occupants with possession of marijuana, police reports show.    Officer Blademir Viveros, was dispatched to the 900 block of Avenue J in reference to a disturbance Monday, Sept. 4, shortly before 4 a.m.

. The Matagorda County Tax Assessor Collector, Becky Barrett Cook, is excited to announce that their new Online Tax Sales Website is live and ready for registration.     According to the TAC this new format will provide ready access to anyone and everyone free of charge.

City Council approves tourism logo, table GFL contract

City Council approved the tourism logo presented by Tourism Manager Darve Smith at council's meeting Sept. 12. Mayor Pro Tem Blaine Finlay said he liked the logo and it should be used "in every publication – for everything." "I like it," said Mayor Robert Nelson.

Matagorda ISD expects 2 new electric buses soon

   Two new electric buses are expected to arrive at Matagorda ISD sometime in September.    In order to receive the busses, technicians must be trained in the operation and safety of electric buses.
