Wadsworth man drowns in Selkirk

   A 56-year-old Wadsworth man drowned in the Colorado River at Selkirk Island trying to move a barge around 5:15 p.m. Sunday Aug. 6, Matagorda County Sheriff’s Department reported. Deputies were sent to Selkirk on a possible drowning call.

Estlinbaum announces demolition of Sargent bridge

   Precinct 2 Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum recently announced a bridge demolition that he said was “years in the works.”    “I had to scrap the original plan and start over. But the day has come,” he said.     The second bridge on CR 201 in Sargent will be demolished on Sept.

   Bay City Community Development Corporation and Main Street Program celebrated the completion of renovations of the digital sign on the northwest corner of the Matagorda County Courthouse with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday morning, Aug. 7.
