"WCJC Foundation welcomes new leadership"

   The Wharton County Junior College Foundation recently announced Gary Gillen as the new President of its Board of Directors, with Bruce Krauskopf stepping into the role of Vice President.  Their leadership will guide the Foundation’s continued efforts to support WCJC students and programs.

Unofficial 2024 Matagorda County voting totals

Matagorda County 2024 unofficial vote returns are in with 13,345 votes cast out of 22,338 registered voters.Republican candidate Rick Deleon won Sheriff with 9,307 total votes.Matagorda ISD Trustee Position 3 went to Gina Treybig with 250 votes.Matagorda County Navigation District No.

"Early vote numbers are brisk" by: Mike Reddell

   Early voting is drawing large numbers in Matagorda County, and Friday is the last day to cast an early vote in the Nov. 5 general election.  At Commissioners Court Monday morning, Oct. 28, County Clerk Stephanie Wurtz reported the total was 6,400 early votes cast.

Matagorda County fire calls through late October

  Bay City Volunteer Fire Department:  On Sept. 30, at 2:25 p.m., responded to an oil spill at Hwy 60 and FM 2668.  On Sept. 30, at 5:49 p.m., to a gas leak at the 3100 block of JP Davis.  On October 4, at 2:05 p.m. responded to a grass fire at the 3000 block of Avenue F.  On October 4, at 5:15 p.
