Retired teachers hold memorial for members who died

   The May Matagorda County Retired Teachers Association (MCRTA) recently had a memorial for two members who  passed away this year at the lunch meeting at King Buffet.  MCRTA also installed officers who will serve a 2-year term and discussed volunteer  opportunities.

   Grant Friesenhahn is the Valedictorian of Bay City High School’s Class of 2026.  Grant is the son of Darren and Natalie Friesenhahn, grandson of Diana Desoto, Mary Friesenhahn, and Paul Remlinger and brother to Julianne Matl and Dawson Friesenhahn.

   Bay City High School’s class of 2026 Salutatorian is Jasmine Glenn.  Jasmine is the daughter of Fatma Yilmaz and Nathan Glenn.  She’s also the granddaughter of Șükrü and Ayșe Yılmaz and Ray and Debbie Glenn.  Jasmine is attending the University of Texas at Dallas and majoring in animation.

   Van Vleck High School’s class of 2026 Salutatorian is Marina Springfield.  Marina is the daughter of Matthew and Danielle Springfield, granddaughter of Mr. Willis, and the sister of Wade Springfield.  Springfield is headed to Abilene Christian University to major in biomedical sciences.
