   Over 50 people attended Linea Energy’s “Duffy Solar Community Lunch & Learn” Monday afternoon.  The 500-megawatt (MW) Duffy Solar project is located on about 2,330 acres off of FM 1468 near Buckeye.

   Newly elected City Councilmen Cory McCray and Jim Folse were sworn into their new terms at City Council’s regular meeting June 23.   Later in the meeting, Blayne Finlay was voted in by council as Mayor Pro Tem for 2026-2027.

Matagorda County participates in free water safety event

   Representatives from Phillips 66, Bay City YMCA, and local community members gathered last week to kick off the Phillips 66 Swim Safety Program sponsorship with water safety discussion and demonstrations.

Aquatics Center moves to reality

   The Aquatics Center of Matagorda County is officially moving from vision to reality, with construction scheduled to begin in July on the county’s first year-round public aquatics facility.  The Aquatics Center is a collaborative investment in the future of Matagorda County.
