Police Department, Volunteer Fire Department to host first-ever National Night Out block party

The Bay City Police Department, in partnership with the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department, announces Bay City’s first-ever National Night Out, which will be Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot at 2201 Avenue H.
National Night Out will take place alongside the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Open House, giving families an opportunity to meet local first responders, and enjoy an evening with fun and activities.
There will be something for everyone, including games, bounce houses, photo booths, face painting, and the now-famous Silly String Street Fight between Bay City police officers and kids.
DJ Nat will provide music throughout the evening.
Our CSI team will fingerprint children, and the Special Response Team (SRT) will hold a Nerf gun competition.
Animal Control Officers also will make a special appearance with “Tank the Tortoise.”
The fire department will be cooking their famous hotdogs, while Gelu Italian Ice will hand out single scoops of ice cream to the first 200 people.
Brigida Guerrero will serve lemonade, and Melissa Perez will make Mexican Street Corn.
  But wait, there’s more!
The first 20 families that find and take a picture with our Crime Prevention Officer, Officer Lopez, will receive a bag full of goodies!
Special guests joining us throughout the evening will include McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, the Youth
Advisory Council, Matagorda County Sheriff’s Department, Crisis Center, Bay City Public Library, Bay City Municipal Court, Bay City Blackcat Drumline, and God’s Creation Photography, who will be taking pictures throughout the night.
“We are extremely excited to bring National Night Out Block Party to Bay City for the first time,” said Police Chief Christella Rodriguez.
“This is a great opportunity for officers, firefighters and other members of our community to spend time together outside of the normal calls for service.
“We hope everyone will come out, bring the family and enjoy a fun evening with us.”
For the safety of everyone attending, the following streets will be blocked during the event:
  ● 6th Street — from Avenue H to Avenue I
  ● Avenue H — from 5th Street to 6th Street
The Bay City Police Department would also like to recognize and thank the sponsors who have helped make this event possible: HEB, Tenaris, Gelu Italian Ice, Taylor Veteran Services, God’s Creations Photography, McAda, DJ Nat Bustos, Happy Radio, GFL, NAPA, Aqua-Zyme, Alexis Monroy Photography, First Methodist Church, and all of the volunteers who are helping make this event special.
