"Over 1,000 in early vote" by: Mike Reddell

“As of today at noon, we have had just over 1,000 voters show up for early voting, which is pretty typical for an election such as this one,” County Clerk Stephanie Wurtz remarked Monday about the Nov. 7 election that includes local elections and 14 constitutional amendments.

LCRA awards $10,000 to expand museum space

   BAY CITY – A $10,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority will help the Matagorda County Museum transform a storage area into additional exhibition space for its historical artifacts and local artwork.

   Earlier this summer, Zeinab Ghais and I had the pleasure of hanging some of Gene Smith Geeslin’s paintings on the walls of Fat Grass, and now there are several paintings up by her husband that you can enjoy while having a bite to eat and conversing with friends and family.

   “The Unconscious Eye” by local Matagorda County artist Zeinab Ghais will open Nov. 3 and run through Dec. 23 at the City by the Sea Museum.     Zeinab Ghais brings a unique perspective in this body of work.

   Bay City failed to convert a long drive late in the game that put the Blackcats deep in Iowa Colony territory as the Pioneers edged Bay City 28-27 Friday night in Memorial Stadium.    The loss puts the Blackcats (6-3, 3-2) third in District 12-4A-1, while Iowa Colony (9-0, 5-0) remains No. 1.
