Labor Day celebrations and closures fall on Sept. 7

   All federal, county, and city offices will be closed for Labor Day and reopen at regular business hours Tuesday, Sept.8.  The U.S. Postal Service and banking institutions will also be closed Monday.  Bay City, Van Vleck, and Tidehaven ISDs all will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Tidehaven ISD photo Three Tidehaven Athletic Hall of Fame inductees: Robert Dannels, Bridgette McKissick Dannels, and Stacy Pierce Wolf, were honored at halftime of the Tidehaven-Ganado football game Friday, Aug. 28. Before the game, the inductees gathered with their families and friends for a small reception. At halftime, our inductees were proudly presented to the Tidehaven community and honored with plaques that will hang in the Dome.

   Tidehaven Tigers dropped their season-starting game at Ganado, 49-26, Friday night, Aug. 28.    The Tigers saw their quarterback Stratton Crow injured in the game, but Tidehaven Head Coach David Lucio said the player “has an injury that will hopefully only keep him out for a few weeks.

BCPD announces new approach to National Night Out

   The Bay City Police Department announced a new approach to celebrating National Night  Out in 2026, with the department hosting its first-ever community block party.   This will correspond with the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department’s Open House that evening.

BCPD: Flock camera damaged intentionally

    A Flock camera, located in the 2200 block of FM 457, was intentionally damaged - sometime in the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 27, Bay City police said.  The damage to a single Flock camera is between $4,000 to $5,000.
