From BCPD
Bay City Police Department promoted five officers during ceremonies Friday at City Hall Council Chamber.
Mayor Robert Nelson provided words of encouragement and Chief Christella Rodriguez and the department commanders officiated the ceremony.
The ceremony was well attended by city staff, city officials, as well as family and friends.
Sergeant Dillan Wakefield
Sergeant Dillan Wakefield has been employed with the Bay City Police Department about four years now.
Prior to this, he was enlisted in the United States Navy from 2017 to 2021.
He has three children, Conor, Caden, and Isabella Wakefield.
Wakefield recently married his beautiful wife, Angelyna Wakefield.
During his time at BCPD, he has obtained certificates such as Intoxilyzer Operator, Field Training Officer and Basic SWAT Operator.
Wakefield currently has an Intermediate Peace Officer License and in due time hopes to receive his Advanced Peace Officer License.
Wakefield represents this department as Patrol Sergeant with integrity, honesty and dedication to the citizens of Bay City.
Corporal Ashley Rubio
Corporal Ashley Rubio is from Rosenberg, and a 2015 graduate of Foster High School.
She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Wharton County Junior College before completing the police academy.
Rubio began her law enforcement career with the Bay City Police Department in 2022.
Since joining the department, she has consistently demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and a strong commitment to public service.
In July 2023, she welcomed her first daughter, an important milestone that has further strengthened her commitment to both her family and her profession.
Throughout her career, Rubio has taken on additional responsibilities by serving as a Field Training Officer and a Hostage Negotiator.
In these specialized roles, she mentored and developed new officers while providing critical support during high-risk incidents, exemplifying the leadership and composure expected of a supervisor.
Rubio remains dedicated to her professional growth and is committed to continuing her education while faithfully serving the citizens of Bay City.
Her promotion to Corporal reflects her hard work, integrity, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Department and the community she serves.
Corporal Braeden Fojtik
Corporal Fojtik was raised in Bay City.
After graduating from Bay City High School, he attended Wharton County Junior College Police Academy where he graduated as valedictorian.
Fojtik joined BCPD and began serving his community in 2023.
During his tenure with Bay City Police, Fojtik served as a Field Training Officer, beginning in June of 2025, and a member of the Bay City Special Response Team.
Fojtik looks forward to continuing his service to the Bay City Community.
Corporal Chloe Taitano
Corporal Taitano is from Yigo, Guam.
She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 2015.
In April 2016, Taitano joined the United States Air Force where she served for 8 years, assigned to the 254 Security Forces Unit, Anderson Air Force Base Guam.
Her military service included various missions, joint base operations and combat deployment in Afghanistan.
In October 2020, Corporal Taitano began her local law enforcement career with the Guam Police Department where she obtained her P.O.S.T. Certification and served her island for three and a half years.
Taitano relocated to Texas in April of 2024, where she transitioned into the role of a detention officer with Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
January of 2025, Taitano was given the opportunity to return to patrol by the Sugar Land Police Department.
She earned her TCOLE certification in May of 2025 and served the City of Sugar Land for several months.
Taitano decided to transition on a different path, where she lateraled and joined the BCPD in November of 2025.
Taitano is grateful for the opportunity and looks forward to continuing to serve the Community of Bay City.
Officer Alyssa Banda
Alyssa Banda was born in Galveston, and raised in Rosenberg.
She is the daughter of loving and supportive parents and the oldest of six siblings.
She is also the devoted mother of two children.
Family has always been the foundation of her life and has shaped her values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion.
Banda attended Terry High School.
After graduation, she dedicated 18 years to the medical field, where she cared for others and served her community.
Her experience in healthcare strengthened her commitment to helping people and inspired her continued desire to serve.
In her personal time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on her children as they participate in sports.
Driven by determination and a passion for service, Alyssa took a leap of faith to pursue her lifelong dream of a career in law enforcement.
Her journey reflects resilience, dedication, and the belief that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.
She is honored to serve her community with integrity, professionalism, and pride.
