‘Rice Dish Round-up’ recipes due Sept. 22

   Time to pull out your favorite rice recipes and begin planning for the 55th Annual Rice Dish Round-Up Cooking Contest (RDR).  Entry forms, including typed recipes for the contest, are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, by emailing crpage@ag.tamu.edu.

BCPD announces Free pet Microchip Clinic Aug. 14-15

   Bay City Animal Control Division hosts a “Free Microchip Clinic – Dogs Only” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Aug. 14-15, at the Animal Impound, 4611 Starling Dr.   All dogs must be on a secure leash.   Please double-check and tighten collars/harnesses for safety.

   Community Actors of South Texas (CAST) presents “The Addams Family” starting at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Aug. 6-8.  The musical comedy feature has everyone’s favorite spooky family on stage at the CAST Theater, 920 Nichols Ave. in Bay City.  The show also has a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday Aug. 9.

   School districts countywide resume classes starting early next week.  Some districts have events connecting students and guardians with teachers and district staff starting Thursday, Aug. 6.    Van Vleck ISD campuses open Monday, Aug. 10.  “Meet the Staff Night” is scheduled for Thursday, Aug.
