Electrical fire causes additional damage to apartment building

   A light fixture above an apartment stairwell - believed damaged from a previous fire - is blamed for an apartment building fire at 4408 Hiram Brandon, building E. Friday, April 28, Fire Marshal Dan Shook reported.

Shooting circumstances remain unclear

   Officers were sent to the 1300 block of 7th Street, in reference to shots fired, a little after 2 a.m. Friday, April 28.    Upon arrival, someone pointed to an area of the parking lot saying someone had gotten shot.     Officers made contact with the victim, a 33-year-old man from Bay City.

Police: Traffic stop leads to cases cleared

   Officer Jordan Siegel made a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of Cameron B. Woods, 18, of Bay City, at about 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 19.     Woods was taken to Matagorda County Jail and charged with traffic violations, reports show.

Additional suspect arrested in January homicide case

    Another suspect was caught Wednesday, April 19, and charged with the Whitson Street homicide in January, in addition to two other suspects, Bay City Police said last week.    Yashua Verntral Lee Caesar, was found by U.S. Marshals near Wharton County, police said.

Woman reports assault at park

   Bay City police seek more information on an assault of a female by two other females at the city park field at 3220 Ave. E, around 8:13 p.m. April 12.    The victim told Bay City Police Department that she was assaulted by two unknown females while she stopped at the field with her dog.

Early vote underway for May 6 election

   Early voting for May 6 elections in Matagorda County began Monday, April 24, with times and dates that include 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. April 24-28 (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27) and May 1-2.    The early vote will be at the Service Center in Bay City and Matagorda County Navigation District No.
