If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, check out what’s happening in Bay City this Saturday, Nov. 5.    The Bay City Tourism Department hosts its annual “Day of the Dead” festival from noon until 10 p.m. Saturday, at the Matagorda County Fairgrounds.

Early voting has averaged around 600 voters per day in the Nov. 8 general election that began Oct. 24 and will continue through Nov. 4.    There have been 3,121 early votes cast through Friday, Oct. 28, County Clerk Stephanie Wurtz said at Commissioners Court Monday.

Matagorda ISD gets grant for new electric buses

Matagorda ISD received $790,000 for two new electric buses as part of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “Clean School Bus Program.”    The district serves about 90 students and has a total of three buses with one currently out of operation.

Paced by running back Jada Andrews’ 205 yards rushing, Bay City edged Iowa Colony 28-27 in a rainy game there Friday night, Oct. 28.    Andrews set the early pace for Bay City with a 57-yard touchdown run at the 9:25 mark in the first quarter.
