Structural fire caused by electrical short

   An electrical outlet short caused a fire at Auto Max Collision, 921 Ave F North Friday, Aug. 19, Fire Marshal Dan Shook reported.    Bay City Volunteer Fire Department responded to the structure fire at 2:25 p.m.

   Bay City ISD trustees unanimously set the public hearing date for the proposed budget and tax rate during their regular meeting, Tuesday, Aug. 23.    All trustees were present for the meeting.    The public meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the BCISD Administration Building.

   Tidehaven school board members unanimously approved the total tax rate of just over $1 during a special meeting Monday, Aug. 29. Trustees Mike Galvan, Marty Crain, Mike Pierce, Stephen Crow, and Scott Cheek were present while board members Stuart Lynn and Eric Saha were absent.

   City Council turned down a variance to the animal ordinance that would have allowed the raising of pigs at council’s regular meeting Aug. 23.    The request came at an earlier meeting when Benjamin Flores proposed raising Meishan Pigs in the city limits at 2500 Hamman Road.
