   Commissioners Court authorized Sheriff Skipper Osborne to hire a new deputy at the court’s meeting Monday, June 20.    Raymond Gonzales was hired as a deputy at a rate of $20.16 per hour, instead of $19.76 due to staff shortage.

   Commissioners Court approved a lease agreement with Matagorda Bay Foundation on a 1,019-acre tract known as Dog Island at the court’s regular meeting Monday, June 13.    The foundation is working to preserve the coastal habitat acreage on Dog Island that once was part of the Colorado River delta.
