   MAGNOLIA BEACH, Calhoun County - A conservation success hatched recently on the shores of the Magnolia Beach in Calhoun County.       A sea turtle nest containing approximately 45 hatching Kemp’s    ridley eggs was discovered, and turtles successfully made their way to the water.

   Commissioners Court approved a lease agreement with Matagorda Bay Foundation on a 1,019-acre tract known as Dog Island at the court’s regular meeting Monday, June 13.    The foundation is working to preserve the coastal habitat acreage on Dog Island that once was part of the Colorado River delta.

"BCISD trustees OK 5% district-wide pay hike" by: Jessica Shepard

   After minimal discussion, BCISD board members unanimously approved a 5% raise for all district employees during the board’s regular meeting Monday, June 6.    That raise adds $1,274,583 to the budget for fiscal year 2022-2023.    All school board trustees were present for the meeting.
