Ghais wants her angel wings to create tourism opportunities

   In case you haven’t noticed, Wings are beginning to pop up around Matagorda County. Artist and designer, Zeinab Ghais, saw an opportunity, when she was asked to paint a set of angel wings on the East alleyway of Memories by Michelle.

Midfield man charged with fatal shooting

   A 27-year-old Midfield man was arrested March 9 for the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old Van Vleck man on property west of Midfield, off Texas 111, Lt. Philip Hester, with the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Department said.

   New COVID-19 cases in Matagorda County remain low compared to a few weeks back, the numbers remain and state data shows average new cases are on the rise.    On the plus side, hospitalizations statewide are at their lowest level since July and average new death totals have decreased.

IPAWS: Latest, best technology for county

   Matagorda County Judge Nate McDonald, along with the Matagorda County Emergency Operations Center staff and the Emergency Management Coordinator have partnered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to bring IPAWS technology to the county for emergency communications.
