"COVID-19 cases stay at high levels" by: Mike Reddell

   Matagorda County has a continued high-level number of COVID-19 cases.     Two major indications of that are MRMC admissions and the high number of Bay City ISD students and staff testing positive for the virus.

   A reinvestment zone tied to the proposed tax abatement request from HIF USA, a Houston-based synthetic fuel manufacturer, was unanimously approved by Commissioners Court at its regular meeting Monday, Jan. 30.

JD Gatson receives Silver Spur Award

   JD Gatson is this year’s recipient of the Matagorda County Silver Spur Award.    The Silver Spur Award is the most prestigious honor given by the ranching and livestock industry in Matagorda County.

    Lifetime Achievement Awards were given to the late Richard Knapik and the late Brent Marceaux at Bay City     Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture’s annual banquet Thursday, Jan. 20.    Their wives, Nancy Knapik and Kim Marceaux, received the awards on behalf of their husbands.
