"Israel updates board on Camofest numbers" by: Jessica Shepard

   Main Street Program Manager Tina Israel provided her board with an update on Camofest at last week’s meeting.  Board members Cory McCray, Karen Stephens, Carol Ann Huitt, Alice Lowery, Henry Perez, and Fran Baker were present while Kristi Lee, Kaci Waller, and Matthew Morales were absent.

LyondellBasell joins Matagorda Bay Foundation in abandoned crab trap event

   LyondellBasell volunteers participated with trap removals recently.   “LyondellBasell is proud to stand alongside the Matagorda Bay Foundation in protecting and preserving one of our region’s most valuable natural resources,” said Michael A. Middleton, Site Manager, LyondellBasell Matagorda Site.

County vote totals closely followed state election trends

   In the March 3 Primary election results, the Bay City Sentinel is showing results in races that were opposed in Matagorda County or included local residents.   The primary election – for both parties – had 5,253 Matagorda County voters casting ballots out of 22.092 registered voters for a 23.

"2026 MCFLA Home Ec winners recognized" by: Jessica Shepard

   The Matagorda County Fair and Livestock Association’s Home Economics Food Show auction raised about $16,175 before add-ons for local students, Saturday, Feb. 28.  That number is a decrease of roughly $525 from last year’s $16,700.

   The Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Association’s (MCFLA) “Annual Fair & Rodeo” has its closeout events this week.  Kicking off with the MCFLA swine show at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 5, in the outdoor arena.  Senior Citizen Day is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KC Hall, 3070 Hamman Road.
