   Time’s running out to catch Donnye Stone’s annual Black History exhibit in the Matagorda County Museum lobby. Museum operating hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and it is located at 2100 Ave. F in Bay City.

LCRA may limit customers to once-a-week outdoor watering beginning in March

   AUSTIN – The Lower Colorado River Authority likely will move to Stage 2 of its drought response in early March, which would require all LCRA firm water customers to increase water saving measures and limit outdoor watering to no more than once a week.

   City council unanimously approved putting three proposed charter changes on the upcoming May 3 ballot during their meeting last week.  All council members were present at the Feb. 12 meeting.

"Port OKs adding $5k to MCEDC for marketing" by: Mike Reddell

   The Port of Bay City Authority approved a new contract with Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation at the port’s board meeting Feb. 13 meeting.  The revised, five-year, $55,000 annual pact, includes an added $5,000 for marketing, explained MCEDC Executive Director Mike Ferdinand.

   Wharton County Junior College’s plans for construction trades training was highlighted in a ribbon cutting before an estimated 85 people last week at WCJC’s Bay City Campus.  County Judge Bobby Seiferman said “it’s an honor be here.

"Jones-Jackson Cemetery now a Historic Texas Cemetery" by: Mike Reddell

   Jones-Jackson Cemetery in northern Matagorda County was designated as a Historic Texas Cemetery in 2021 through the efforts of the Jones/Jackson family.  A historical marker was dedicated at the cemetery located a few miles north of Pledger off FM 1301 at a ceremony Saturday afternoon, Feb.

"Main Street board OKs 2 façade grant applications" by: Jessica Shepard

   The Bay City Main Street Program board unanimously approved two façade grants during its monthly meeting last week.  Edward Jones’ John Dickerson was approved for $4,736 to replace 10 single-pane windows with double panes and replace any corresponding wood damage.
