   Bay City ISD trustees unanimously approved launching a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for realtor services during their meeting last week.  All board members were present for the Sept. 16 meeting.

"1st Navy of Texas commissions five new admirals at ceremony" by: Mike Reddell

   Five new admirals were commissioned by The First Navy of Texas Historical Society at a well-attended Texian Navy Day ceremony at Matagorda Harbor Pavilion Saturday, Feb. 20.  The new admirals are George Harrison, Gail Cook, Gloria Crockett, David Garza and Corrie Bowen.

   Matagorda Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Foundation’s “Oktoberfest” fundraiser returns Saturday, Sept. 20.   The event kicks off with the first-ever “Pivo & Pigs 5K Run/Walk” with registration at 8 a.m. and a 9 a.m. run start.

   Matagorda County Extension Agent Greg Baker welcomed over a dozen attendees to the "Tree Health Clinic: Pecan Trees" event last week.   “I think I’ve been getting calls from people about their pecan trees since summer practically started,” he said at the Sept. 11 workshop.

   Countywide stakeholders attended the Lower Colorado-Lavaca (Region 10) Regional Flood Planning Group “Open House Meeting” last week.   The event stressed the following topics:    Identifying flood mitigation activities to include in the plan and be eligible for future funding.

"Main Street OKs bylaws, historic preservation ordinance edits" by: Jessica Shepard

   Bay City Main Street board members unanimously approved the edited bylaws and historic preservation ordinance after a brief discussion during their meeting last week.   The only absent members were Carol Huitt and Matthew Morales.
